A brochure about the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, made single-handed in 2024 as a student project in typography. The brief set one condition, that it be devoted to a well known figure. I chose him for the way his work looks.
The pages cover a little of his life and a few of his buildings, without going deep into any one of them, because the argument here is in the design rather than in the text. Kuma's architecture is open space: every building breathes. The typography does the opposite and stays inside its frames, which keeps the pages readable and sets a quiet contradiction against the work they describe.
A poster was made as part of the same project.

חוברת על האדריכל היפני קנגו קומה, שעשיתי לבד ב־2024 כפרויקט לימודים בטיפוגרפיה. המטלה קבעה תנאי אחד, שהחוברת תוקדש לדמות מוכרת. בחרתי בו בגלל האופן שבו העבודות שלו נראות.
הדפים מספרים מעט על חייו ועל כמה מהמבנים שלו, בלי להיכנס לעומק באף אחד מהם, כי הטענה כאן נמצאת בעיצוב ולא בטקסט. האדריכלות של קומה היא מרחב פתוח: כל מבנה נושם. הטיפוגרפיה עושה בדיוק את ההפך ונשארת בתוך המסגרות שלה, מה ששומר על קריאוּת ויוצר סתירה עדינה מול העבודות שהיא מתארת.
כרזה נעשתה כחלק מאותו פרויקט.
התפקיד שליהכול, לבד: בחירת הנושא, הקונספט העריכתי, והטיפוגרפיה והפריסה של החוברת והכרזה.
